Breakers Unlimited was founded by Ralph Wendel in 1986 with the desire to serve the needs of electrical wholesalers in the purchase of replacement circuit breakers. In 1992, new facilities were needed as the product offerings grew to include multiple lines of residential and commercial circuit breakers along with definite purpose contactors. The company continued to grow and soon had a nationwide customer base.

1996 was a year of leadership change. Ralph Wendel retired and his son, Joe, joined the company. The following year saw the introduction of the Circuit Breaker Price Book – the first edition of our now annual catalog. Breakers Unlimited's customers immediately saw the value of the catalog as it became a tool for their salespeople. The value remains today although the catalog is many times larger than the inaugural edition. Even though all the information is online at the password-protected site, the catalog is still popular.

The Company continued to grow and in 1999 acquired the Electrical Outlet in Arvada, Colorado (Denver metro) and Eagle Circuit Breaker in Lawrenceville, Georgia (greater Atlanta area). 2001 saw the opening of a facility in Bakersfield California in order to better serve the western states markets, and especially California. A distribution facility was opened in Houston in 2005 to provide an improved level of service in Texas and the southwest. In 2010, the Bakersfield operation was moved to Las Vegas in order to enhance availability and distribution capabilities. The warehouse and distribution center in Tampa, Florida came on line in mid-year of 2014. The Grapevine, TX (Dallas metro) facility was added in 2015 and the warehouse in eastern Pennsylvania rounded out the expansion in 2016.

With thirty years of high quality customer service and strong performance, Breakers Unlimited is the market leader in the independent distribution channel providing circuit breakers, fuses, bus plugs, fusible panel board switches, replacement contact kits, and motor control components to the wholesale and distributor market in the United States.
